London to Brussels (via Amsterdam) on a bike - for the MS Trust

Well, last year we followed Jacqui Moore on her epic cycle ride from London to Paris where she raised a fantastic £2,507 for the Terence Higgins Trust. (Click here if you would like to see Jacqui's journey.)

This year our very own Mel Plehov is trying to outdo Jacqui by cycling from London to Brussels, via Amsterdam. Then, on top of that, on 1st July, she will swim the Salford Keys in the Great Manchester Swim.

27th May 2012  - Target : £1500.   (Madness or determination?)
I'll let Mel tell you:

Hello!

So having bought a bike to cycle to the shops and back, I thought the next logical step would be to cycle to Brussels via Amsterdam. It's not going to be pretty, but it'll give me some serious motivation to get down the gym and to raise money for a worthwhile cause.

Here's what it entails:

Day 1: London to Harwich
90 miles

Day 2: Hook of Holland to Amsterdam
66 miles

Day 3: Amsterdam to Turnhout
110 miles (OMG!!!!!)

Day 4: Turnhout to Brussels
72 miles

The MS Trust is a charity close to both mine and my mum's heart - they provide support for anyone affected by MS, fund research and campaign for awareness and education about MS. It was set up by two ladies with MS who wanted to help others affected by it. They started off selling Christmas cards from their front room and it has now grown into a charity that helps the thousands of people in the UK who are affected by MS.

After the ride I've  also decided to do the Great Manchester Swim (why not?), which is 1 mile in freezing cold open water 1st July in Salford Quays.
